Gembrook Market
Gembrook Market is held on the fourth Sunday of the month at Puffing Billy Railway Station between 9am and 3pm. (no December market)
The market promotes sustainable living throughout its activities. It was declared plastic bag free from its inception and strict guidelines are set on the types of products sold to ensure the market "walks-the-talk".
Gembrook Market also has an education program on sustainability issues and ideas. In the past 18 months many groups and individuals have provided displays and talked to visitors on ways to support sustainability.
And as market-goers browse through the stalls their tastebuds will be tantalised by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, a range of sweet and savoury foods, and the community barbecue, which is operated by Gembrook groups fundraising for their various projects.

Puffing Billy
Puffing Billy runs services to and from Gembrook every weekend and in the warmer months daily.
The scenery along the line from Lakeside to Gembrook is much more varied and interesting than the section from Belgrave. Parking and access to the stations is also much easier than at Belgrave. Many people with limited time miss out on the delights than can be seen on the upper section of line by taking the shorter Belgrave to Lakeside journey. The journey by car or by regular bus services does not take long to Gembrook and can a better choice than parking at Belgrave and the long steep walk to the station there.
If you want a great taste of what the Puffing Billy really can offer try combining a short bus trip and Puffing Billy ride rather than duplicating your journey. US Buslines runs half hourly services most days between Belgrave and Gembrook which connect with Puffing Billy at Emerald, Cockatoo and Gembrook. This enables people to have a cheaper journey than a return Puffing Billy trip while enjoying a great taste of the beautiful country in the upper Dandenongs.
Better yet, take an earlier bus to Gembrook and stop for lunch, or have a look around at Gembrook at some of the attractions or go on one of the walks through nearby Gembrook Park (track notes - pdf) or on the Historic Walk. By combining Bus and Puffing Billy travel you can have a much more flexible timetable.
